24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
McDermott's Pharmacy offers a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) service. This provides your doctor with a comprehensive picture of your blood pressure throughout the day and night.
How It Works
- A small, lightweight monitor is fitted to your arm in the pharmacy
- The monitor takes automatic readings every 20–30 minutes throughout the day and night
- After 24 hours, you return the monitor to the pharmacy
- A detailed report is generated and can be sent directly to your GP
Why 24-Hour Monitoring? A single blood pressure reading in a clinic may not give the full picture. 24-hour monitoring provides a more accurate assessment and can detect conditions like "white coat hypertension."
